Military Hospital Taoyuan, Taiwan
Medical and healthcare
The clinic is investing in selective monitoring of the entire building infrastructure. In order to reliably monitor the various voltage and application levels, different measurement solutions are required, taking into account the cost budget.
In order to monitor the overall performance as well as the power requirement, measurements are taken directly at the circuit breaker at the medium-voltage level. The individual supplies to the main distribution boards of the medium voltage are then to be measured on an outgoing circuit basis. In addition to the classic measured values such as U, I, P, Q, S, F, PF, …, harmonics are also viewed here in order to be able to recognize influences from the field of power quality. These applications are mastered by the SINEAX® AM3000 and SINEAX® AM2000 series. Due to the large number of low-voltage distribution boards on the site, the cost-effective ECOLine SIRAX® BM1250 series is used here. This series not only impresses with its very good price/performance ratio, but also with its sufficient form factor of 96x96mm.
Thanks to the selective monitoring system, fluctuations or even faults can be detected very quickly and measures can be taken. In addition, the energy sum of the individual distributions should add up to the sum of the entire energy distribution. If there are deviations here as a result of unwanted energy and power differences, the cause can be found quickly.
Kantonspital Luzern [LUKS], Switzerland
Medical and healthcare
The site of Kantonspital Luzern [LUKS] is the central hospital in Central Switzerland and comprises a large number of buildings and departments. The supply in the area grid operation already forms in a complex infrastructure. In order to address the issues of supply security and energy efficiency, transparency regarding load and power quality is now to be created. To this end, the power quality will first be determined at the point of common coupling (PCC) at the medium-voltage level. Furthermore, relevant outgoing circuits on the transformer are then monitored as feeds into the area power distribution. In further steps, corresponding “hotspots”, e.g. decentralized energy supply (PV) as well as critical consumption areas are to be monitored. The new children’s and women’s clinic is already in the planning stage and will be fundamentally monitored in terms of energy and quality.
In preliminary studies, critical areas were carried out and analyzed with mobile power quality analyzers of the LINAX® PQ5000-Mobile series. This enabled the initial findings to be collected. This then led to the decision to implement stationary measurement technology initially at the important main power supply of the area grid. In order to ensure frequency stability, the newly installed photovoltaic system was also integrated into the measurement system so that frequency influences from the inverters could be detected and intervened at an early stage. The entire measurement technology for this is provided by the metrologically certified LINAX® PQx000 series according to class A. However, other series, e.g. LINAX® PQ1000 according to class S, etc. will also be used in the further expansion steps.
Thanks to the close cooperation and technical expertise, the entire measurement concept could be created jointly. The preliminary studies were very helpful in avoiding ineffective measurement locations and thus not straining the budget unnecessarily. Another advantage worth emphasizing is the ease of operation thanks to the user-friendly HMI. But also the connectivity to the higher-level MS-SCADA system is coherent. The cost-benefit balance was fully convincing.
Kuang Tien General Hospital, Taiwan
Medical and Healthcare
For a new building, the electrical infrastructure with its core elements must be made visible. Especially in the time of COVID, it became more and more clear how fundamental clinics and their electrical facilities are. Thus, clinics belong to the critical infrastructures. The core task of the monitoring is the collection of all relevant electrical data, including energy. Important for this project with many hundreds of measuring points is the price/measurement location. In addition, flexibility is required, since Modbus RTU, as well as Modbus TCP/IP, is to be used. The customer attaches great importance to a punctual delivery.
Once again, the SIRAX®BM1250 from the ECOline series is in demand. All technical parameters, incl. the accuracies, are adhered to. In addition, the type of connectivity can still be decided or adapted on-site by means of so-called backpags. The delivery date is closely agreed upon with the customer. Furthermore, SINEAX®AM2000 are used at important nodes, as their additional functionalities by means of a web browser and large TFT display are appreciated.
The price-performance ratio is right. In addition, there is the flexibility of connectivity, especially with the SIRAX®BM1250, because at the time of procurement it was not yet possible to define exactly where Modbus RTU and TCP/IP would be used. Especially in the context of the global procurement situation through COVID, this was crucial in order not to cause any delivery delays with it. In order to use extended functions only where needed, the measuring devices of the two series were selected. This is seen as very positive with regard to budget compliance.
